Together, we can improve labor conditions for workers worldwide, stop factories from damaging communities with chemical run-off, and neutralize wasteful consumption and carbon emissions to leave a better earth for future generations.

I'm a project manager for Idealist.org, which is one of the largest nonprofit portals on the web. We're looking to take the best of social networking and use it to create opportunities for our broad network of members to work together offline.
I'm trying to figure out where I fit in at the Grassroots Tech event. I really like the ideas others have presented, and would love to talk about those projects. I'd also be happy to share a bit about what Idealist as an organization has been thinking about and working on, if others are interested. We have lots of opportunities to partner, so it could be useful in that regard as well.

There are a number of social change leaders who want to take advantage of web 2.0 technology, but don't have the time or the expertise to do it. At the same time, lots of talented technologists want to use their skills for social change, but don't know where or how to break in. We're going to put them all in the same room and get the ideas flowing.
