What should be the format of the event?

Tom Lowenhaupt made some good suggestions leading me to reset the expectations.  Four or five solid presentations will be better than 8 rushed ones.  The real magic happens during the discussions, so we need plenty of time for that.

Also, the our hope for this group is that will have a goal and identity beyond just getting together to share our individual projects.  Eventually, we want to use this group to catalyze and coordinate broader efforts.  Perhaps some of the time should be reserved to talk about the identity of the group and have an open discussion.

Presentations will most likely be given by organization leaders who need advice or help from the tech community.  Others who have a general service to offer to the grassroots community may also present.  The goal is to get ideas and knowledge flowing, and perhaps to match up some people.  This is not, however, a volunteer fair or a trade show for your services.  While we encourage you to make contacts at the event, we hope that your actual presentation will be more than just an advertisement.

Presentations do not need to be polished, and your ideas do not need to be complete.  We love partially formed ideas.  A Brainswarm is the perfect place to hash out your ideas with knowledgeable and like-minded people.  The faster you can get your presentation across and let the discussion begin, the better.
